That Coat, Those Tights

Goodbye April. But where were your showers to bring on May flowers?

It's safe to say that southern California is about done with it's cooler weather. Notice I said cooler and not cold. Attention world: California has lost its winter. Will someone please help us find it! This icky 90 degree weather in April makes me look foolish for safekeeping all of the borderline/crazy expensive coats I've accumulated over the recent "winters" - a term used lightly to describe the one week a year when it rains. Sigh. Farewell to the semi-season of cute tights and even cuter coats. Hello icky sweat and even ickier bugs.

Photo: Goodbye winter clothing.

Photo: Cute coat, cute hair, cute tights, cute purse.
Cute Cute Cute!

The OC Says Goodbye

Photo: Adam Brody

I'll admit it: for the past several years, The OC has been my guilty pleasure. Now that it's met its demise, there will no longer be weekly helpings of Adam Brody - a man who encapsulates a lot of the qualities I expect out of an alpha male. Like oh my gosh, he's like, so hot.

The series finale was satisfying - although a huge part of me wanted Mischa Barton to come back for a cameo (maybe as a dream? a hallucination?). Anyway, thank God the Cohen's got out of Orange County (after realizing it's not all it's made up to be). And unlike real-life Adam and real-life Rachel, their characters ended up getting married. Le Sigh.

Since Adam Brody is single and job-less now, he should take some down time to get to know the little people. While a part of me suggests that he become cuddle buddies with Natalie Portman, it's quite obvious that she is too good for him. But I'm not - so holla!

The New Who?

Photo: Bilson, 2007

Perez Hilton dubbed her 'The New Natalie Portman'. But as much as I love Rachel Bilson (and I love her a lot), there will never, ever be another Natalie Portman. Let alone a 'new' one. That doesn't mean we can't appreciate how unbelievably cute Rachel Bilson is - so let's!

Postman's Park

Go buy Closer now! Stop reading this blog, go to Best Buy, and purchase the bloody movie! Why? Our park is in it! Norma, Sandy, and I were first to discover Postman’s Park in central London whilst walking to class at the Museum of London. Our fortunate misguidance led us into the serene, picturesque, and obviously movie worthy location. Empty in the mornings with the exception of construction workers (and yes, they were featured in the movie) and perkie English birds, we made the park our own. Little did we know that our weekly tiffs regarding what side of the grass to walk on took place on the former stomping grounds of both Jude Law and Natalie Portman.

Closer's Plot: A silly girl who moves to London and somehow falls for a silly boy named Dan. Now where have I heard this story before?

While you’re at it, go buy Bridget Jones as well! BJ sites? Been there, done that. Bohra and I shopped at the famous Borough market, had a pint of Guinness at the well known Globe Pub, and took a mess of pictures in front of Bridget’s door (where Colin Firth tells her that he loves her, just as she is).

Photo: Her door is actually Globe Pub's back entrance.

Photo: To the left, typical English man. So posh.

Oscars

Back from Vegas in time for the Oscars.

Let us partake in a moment of silence to comprehensively appreciate the beauty that is Natalie Portman. Phenomenal, as though she's fled from the pages of Greek history. I am perfectly okay with the fact that she did not win an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role as Alice Ayres in Closer. She’s young, her time will come. In the interim, silence.
